On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the Sonargaon University Sports Club organized the "SU Champions League 2025" futsal tournament at Turf Nation in Tejgaon, Dhaka, featuring nine franchise-based teams each paired with a faculty owner and a female student ambassador. The high-energy event culminated in a thrilling final where SU Dominators claimed the championship title by defeating SU Royals in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw, with standout performances by Best Goalkeeper Zakir and Best Player Nayeem. The grand closing and prize distribution ceremony were attended by university leadership—including Vice-Chancellor Professor Shamim Ara Hasan, Pro-VC Professor Bulbul Ahmed, Advisor Azizul Bari (Shipu), and Sports Club Director Mehrab Hossain Johsy—alongside special guests former national cricket selector Hannan Sarkar and former national football goalkeeper Biplob Bhattacharjee.
The event focused on promoting physical fitness, leadership, and mental well-being alongside academics, while fostering inclusivity and strong faculty-student collaboration through its unique team ownership and ambassador roles.
